Enterprise Digital Portfolio Management

The Enterprise Digital Portfolio Management course covers key concepts required to manage an enterprise digital investment portfolio, including classical and goal-driven approaches. The course considers both the organisational and technological change potential of such investments.

Decision-making around enterprise digital initiatives always creates a challenge for large organisations. Change requires investments of time and money, making gain and risk the main subjects for investigation. Enterprise portfolio management practices have evolved as a result.

Emerging practices from leading organisations will be explored, including management models and Agile components of successful investments. The need to adopt an Agile culture is key to much of the course as it covers: the role of the change agent as a champion for enterprise agility; modern investment decision delegation in an Agile context; and an Agile approach to cultural maturity.

This course is the first in the Enterprise Digital Investments Curriculum.

1. Classical project portfolio management approach

  • Projects, programs and portfolios lifecycle
  • Key project/program/portfolio management processes

  • Risk-reward balance and different investment strategies

3. Emerging practices from leading companies

  • Business service management vs. process management
